My Journey in Public Health
My passion for medical science began in 2005 when I started studying MBBS in Rangpur Medical College, Rangpur, Bangladesh. After passing MBBS and completing my internship training at Rangpur Medical College Hospital, I knew I wanted to delve deeper into the world of public health. This led me to pursue a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine (NIPSOM) in Dhaka in 2016. During that time, I also honed my communication skills as a feature writer for The Daily Prothom Alo, the largest circulated newspaper in Bangladesh. Sharing health information with a wider audience ignited another passion within me.
For several years, I had the privilege of serving as a Lecturer in Community Medicine at Northern Private Medical College in Rangpur. This experience allowed me to share my knowledge and train not only medical students but also paramedics. Over the past eight years, I’ve actively contributed to the development of future healthcare professionals.
For the past seven years, I’ve played a vital role at the Deep Eye Care Foundation (DECF) in Rangpur. As Head of Administration and Human Resources, I’m responsible for ensuring the organization runs smoothly. Additionally, I leverage my expertise as an Assistant Professor at the Deep Institute of Community Ophthalmology, DECF’s dedicated training institute.
For the past seven years, a significant focus of my work has been on training and developing a skilled team of ophthalmic paramedics (MLOPs). These dedicated professionals play a crucial role in supporting ophthalmologists and delivering vital eye care services. My unwavering commitment to this area earned me the prestigious “Eye Health Hero Award 2021” in the Future Leader’s Category from the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB). This recognition has been a tremendous source of motivation.
As a public health specialist, preventing blindness remains at the forefront of my work. I actively participate in community eye health programs, raising awareness among community members and encouraging them to prioritize preventive measures. My commitment goes beyond training and awareness; I believe in empowering communities to take charge of their eye health.
Beyond the direct realm of public health, I’m actively involved in research activities. I’ve authored several publications in both national and international journals, striving to contribute to the advancement of knowledge. Currently, I have the honor of serving as a Research Supervisor for MPH students at Bangladesh Open University.
One of my most exciting research collaborations involved working with Orbis International and Digital Diagnostics. Our groundbreaking study explored the impact of autonomous AI on the productivity of healthcare professionals screening for diabetic eye disease. The results were remarkable – a 40% increase in productivity! This peer-reviewed study, published in the prestigious Nature Journal, was the first of its kind globally to investigate how AI can enhance healthcare delivery.
In addition to my professional work, I offer comprehensive research consultancy services through my website and social networks. Whether you need help with research design, crafting impactful arguments for your thesis, or data analysis, I’m here to help you achieve your research goals.
While my professional life keeps me busy, I believe in a healthy work-life balance. In my free time, I find solace in music, whether it’s listening, composing, or even singing. I also enjoy expressing myself through writing blogs and creating online content. Beyond the digital world, I love to travel and capture the beauty of the world through photography. These creative pursuits allow me to recharge and return to my work with renewed passion.
